Day 99  God Says:  I Will Not Leave You

Genesis 28:15 (New International Version, ©2011)

 I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.”

So the big question is-----What has God promised you??  If this is your first time reading this blog, please click on “Day 1” in the archives to begin your journey with God.  If you are someone who is following this daily, by now you will probably have written down the promises that God has given you—and hopefully the scriptural confirmation for that promise.  (See Day 97 and 98 for an example of this.)

Instead of coming to God with your laundry list of things you need, remember that if you are a child of God, He has already met all of your needs.  (Philippians 4:19) 

If someone came to you when you were a child and said, “I am buying you a new bike,” you wouldn’t go to them and say,  “Would you buy me a bike?”  God’s Word is full of His promises, so in our time of need, we go to our heavenly “Daddy” and say, “Thank You, Father, that you meet all of my needs today---my need for wisdom and understanding, my need for favor, my need for a new car, etc.”

Genesis 28:15 also says that you have the promise that He will not leave you until He has done everything that He promised you.  That in itself is a wonderful word from God.

The verse also says that you can count on God to finish everything He has promised.  Whew!!  In the waiting, it doesn’t always seem like God is on the job.  His word says that He is and that makes me glad.  How about you??

Prayer Focus:

Sometimes you may feel all alone but God’s Word says that He is with you and He is watching over you wherever you go.  That goes for your family members too.  As you pray for them, God goes with them too!!  And besides being with you, He says He is delivering His promise to your house!!

Day 97 and 98

·         Enjoy chewing on these scriptures in regards to God’s promises to you. Be sure to write in your journal those that have meaning for you.  Remember, you may need them to encourage yourself on a day when you don’t feel so great about things. You can check back in your journal and encourage yourself with what God has said!!

Day 96   We Trust In The Name Of The Lord

Psalm 20:6-7 (New International Version, ©2011)

 Now this I know: The LORD gives victory to his anointed.   He answers him from his heavenly sanctuary  with the victorious power of his right hand.  Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.

I really like what it says here.  “Now this I know….”  The Psalms are written by David.  David was a person who had been through many trials and had many days when he feared for his very life.  But look what it says here:  “Now this I know…”  David knew that God was going to come through for him.

How did He know that----because as a little boy, he spent many days out on the hillside watching over his sheep.  He was a shepherd.  He knew how to watch over sheep.

We are the “sheep” of God’s pasture and He watches over us.  David probably had a real understanding of what a shepherd does because he was taught to do it himself.

The sheep didn’t worry about a thing!  They knew their shepherd would make sure they got to the grassy place so they could eat, found caves where they could rest and if one got too close to the edge and fell over the cliff, the shepherd would take his crook and rescue him. 

When a lion or a bear would come and try to attack a sheep, the shepherd would go out and use the crook to fight them off so the sheep would remain unharmed.

Isn’t that just what a good father would do?  If that is the job of our earthly fathers in their limited ability, think how much more we are provided for, nurtured and protected by our Heavenly Father!!

David learned to trust his God each and every day of his life.  We too can trust Him in our daily lives.  Then we can say,  “Now this I know….some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.”

Day 95  My Heart Will Not Fear

Psalm 27:3 (New International Version, ©2011)

Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear;
though war break out against me, even then I will be confident.

Did you catch the words “army” and “war?”  I don’t know about you but sometimes I feel like I am in a battle---and I don’t always feel like I am winning!!

On the days when you feel like this, you can come back to this promise:  “Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear.”

There’s a place we can go when we feel the walls closing in on us.

Proverbs 18:10 (New International Version, ©2011)

 The name of the LORD is a fortified tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.

That name is “Jesus.”  In Jesus there is safety.  He is strong when we feel weak.  If we are in the family of God, then we have been declared righteous and we can run to Him.  If we have not made Jesus the Lord of our lives, we can also run to Him because His arms are wide open to us!!

On Day 94 we learned there is a “secret place” that He has carved out for us.  (Psalms 91:1)  He knew we would need it.

Maybe you’ve even laid awake at night fretting over all the things that concern you—you mind being a battlefield of conflicting thoughts.

Psalms 16: 11 says that in His presence is “fullness of joy.”  Now that is much better than torment, worry and fretting!

These blogs are designed to bring you into the presence of the Lord where that “joy” is waiting for you.  Some of you have experienced this joy through these “meetings with God.”  If you haven’t, be patient with yourself.  Keep writing in your journal, keep moving forward, and keep expecting that when you open your Bible, God will be speaking personally to you.

Prayer Focus:

Spend some time talking to God about some thoughts that you have.  Ask Him for His instructions, directions and yes, even corrections.  There---you’ve spent time in the presence of God!!  Now don’t you feel better?? 

Day 94  Our Confidence Is In God

Psalm 21:7 (New International Version, ©2011)

For the king trusts in the LORD; through the unfailing love of the Most High he will not be shaken.

As the “boat” of life rocks back and forth, there is One who is stable and sure---Jesus Christ.  Sometimes life seems so unsure and you just wonder what could happen next.  You can be confident that there is a place of peace designed for the family of God.

Psalm 91:1 (Amplified Bible)

“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty [Whose power no foe can withstand].

As the day begins and you have your “meeting with God,” you are anchoring yourself in His promises so when the “storms” of life come, you can rest in confident assurance that everything is going to be just fine.  We ride out the storm with God.  Our souls (our thoughts, our emotions and our choices) are “anchored” in Him.

¹⁹ We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.

On Day 93, we had the story of Abraham which had been given one of those “impossible” promises from God.  From my experience I can see that “impossible” is God’s specialty.  Why?  Because no man or woman can say, “I did that.”  It has to be God and God will get all the glory!  After all, He is the ALL-mighty God!!

·   Your soul is your mind (thoughts), your will (choices) and your emotions (how you feel about things.  These are the things that cause your boat to rock.  Remember the last time you over reacted to a thought and made a wrong choice??  Think about what transpired. 

·   Read these scriptures and make them your own.

Exodus 33:21  (See yourself standing on the rock which is positioned right beside Jesus.  I always picture Him with His arm around me, explaining things to me!)

Psalms 37:31  (Remember that the word “law” means “instruction.”  When God gives us His instructions, it brings us stability and peace.  I just say, “What are we going to do about this, God?”)

·   Write some of your concerns in your journal and ask God what the two of you are going to do about them.)

Prayer Focus:

If you wrote your concerns in your journal and you asked God to help you with them, you have already prayed!!  Now just thank Him, because the answer is on the way!!

Day 93    I Will Be Their God

Genesis 17:8 (New International Version, ©2011)

⁸ The whole land of Canaan, where you now reside as a foreigner, I will give as an everlasting possession to you and your descendants after you; and I will be their God.”

Abraham and Sarah had no children.  Abraham was ninety-nine years old when God spoke to him and said “your descendants after you.”  He also said, “I am God Almighty.”  (Vs. 1)

Vs. 2 says, “I will confirm My covenant between me and you and I will greatly increase your numbers.”

God always has a much bigger plan for us than we can even conceive of for ourselves.  If we know that, perhaps it would be wise for us to say, “I agree with You, God.  Go ahead and work Your plan. I am with you!!”

If you have people that you love who are not putting God first place in their lives and are struggling because of it,  you can say, “Father, Your promise in Genesis 17:8 is that You will be their God." That is a very personal promise from the very heart of God to you!!

The next prayer that I pray is, “Lord, do not let me block Your plan with my limited knowledge of the situation.  Father, teach me to love them like you love them and if you chose to use me to facilitate Your plan, help me to know that.  If You chose not to use me, help me to be still and wait for you.  As I wait, help me to pray and to stand in faith for the answer.”

Day 92  He Has Done Great Things For Me

Luke 1:45 (The Message)

Blessed woman, who believed what God said, believed every word would come true!

First let me say that God is no respecter of persons (Acts 10:34), so if you are a man reading this, this scripture applies to you.  Actually it applies to anyone “who believed what God said.”

After 91 days of meeting with God and writing in your journal, you probably are hearing God speak to you through His Word.  Remember  His Word is your “roadmap” so that you can get “there”----that place where you desire to be in your life.

NOTE:  If you have not set up a regular time and place to meet with God and you haven’t gotten a notebook to write in, I encourage you to click on DAY 1 and begin again.  Remember, you are not behind!  This is a journey and we will all get “there” if we just keep going!

If God has showed you something through His Word or spoken something deep in your heart, then it’s your choice as to whether to believe Him or not.  This story is about the angel Gabriel speaking to Mary and telling her she is about to become the mother of the Messiah.  Now that’s a pretty unbelievable promise.  That encourages me that God's promise to me will also come to pass if I embrace it.

Remember how Mary responded:

Luke 1:38 (New International Version, ©2011)

“I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her.

This promise to her was totally beyond her way of thinking, yet it was God’s promise to her.  She chose to embrace it!

1.  Go back through what you have written in your journal and highlight those things that God has spoken to you personally.

2.  Each time you highlight something, stop and thank God for this promise and also ask Him to help you be a person who believes.

3.  See yourself with the promise already in your possession and then read Verse 49 of Luke 1.
