Day 166 I AM Your Righteousness
Jeremiah 23:6
(NIV1984)
In his days Judah
will be saved and Israel will live in safety. This is the name by which he will
be called:
The LORD Our Righteousness.
The LORD Our Righteousness.
This verse prophesies the coming of Jesus, whose death on
the cross made it possible for us to be labeled “righteous.”
2 Corinthians 5:21
(NIV1984)
God made Him who had
no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.
What an amazing love God had (and still has)for us when we
didn’t even care. He loved us so much
and wanted us to be labeled “righteous” even when we were yet sinners.
Now we can come freely before God and ask Him to forgive us
when we make mistakes. Our motivation
should be that we would not want to do anything that would put a wedge between
us and God. Because of what He did for
us, we want to live our entire lives for Him!!
Here is further scriptural confirmation of being “made righteous”
by Christ’s death on the cross:
1 Corinthians 6:11 Amplified Bible
And such some of you
were [once]. But you were washed clean (purified by a complete atonement for
sin and made free from the guilt of sin), and you were consecrated (set apart,
hallowed), and you were justified [pronounced
righteous, by trusting] in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the
[Holy] Spirit of our God.
We could never keep the Old Testament rules and regulations,
but because of the complete work of the cross, we can come before God and talk freely to Him. By His grace, He reveals His love to us on a
daily basis. What a relationship is available
to us!!!
