Day 120 God Gives Us A Fresh Start
2 Samuel 22:21-22 (The Message)
God made my life complete when I placed all the pieces before Him. When I cleaned up my act, He gave me a fresh start.
Notice what preceded the “fresh start.” David had to place all the pieces of his life before God. His life was a mess. (Read all of II Samuel 22) God had just saved him from all his enemies and from Saul, who was out to kill him.
Our lives can be in a mess too and God is waiting for us to bring our mess to Him. I remember that day very well. I was trying to do it on my own and nothing (I mean nothing) was working!! Finally in sheer desperation, I laid my life with all its scattered and confused and frustrated pieces before God and said, “If You can do anything with this, You can have it.” To my utter amazement, a peace rushed over me. I had peace! I had joy! I felt refreshed and invigorated—ready to do things God’s way. That’s what a “fresh start” is. It’s like “a do over,” in a kid’s vernacular. That’s exactly what I needed—only this time it was going to be God’s way—not mine!! Let’s do this Your way God and not mine!!
God is willing to give us a fresh perspective, a fresh purpose and a fresh energy to do what pleases Him and not ourselves.
As I read the Word of God, I see that God loves to give people a fresh start. He sent Jesus to the cross to wipe out our past sins, our past failures and our wrong past experiences. He loves to pick us up, clean us off and give us a fresh start. Only God could do that!!
