Day 121  God Cleans The Slate

1 Corinthians 1:26-31 (The Message)

Everything that we have—right thinking and right living, a clean slate and a fresh start—comes from God by way of Jesus Christ. That's why we have the saying, "If you're going to blow a horn, blow a trumpet for God."

How many times have you attempted to do something like stopping a bad habit, only to find yourself back at “Square One.”  God picks us up out of those old routines with repeated bad results and says, “Rely on Me and do it My way.  I am the only Answer to your dilemma.  I am the only Way to your complete and total freedom.”  Only when God is in it is it truly a “fresh start.” 

I have learned that when I call on Him for His help,  He often gives me instructions---something I need to do to show that I have faith in Him.  The scriptures say, “Without faith it is impossible to please God….” (Hebrews 11:6) He can work in the atmosphere of my faith.  God works with us as we obey His instructions.  He’s leading us to a place of freedom from the past—one step at a time!

Isaiah 26:14 (Amplified Bible)

¹⁴They [the former tyrant masters] are dead, they shall not live and reappear; they are powerless ghosts, they shall not rise and come back. Therefore You have visited and made an end of them and caused every memory of them [every trace of their supremacy] to perish.

So there!!  That’s that!!  Those things that used to control us and make us do what they say to do, are DEAD!!  Their power over us was taken care of at the cross.  The thing that keeps them activated in our lives is when we believe they still exist.  We buy the lie that they still have power, when they absolutely do not!!

·         Make a list of those things in your life that you struggle to get beyond.

·         Submit them to God early in the day and ask Him how to walk toward your freedom.

·         Be mindful that He will be showing you how!

Prayer Focus:

Turn Isaiah 26:14 (Amplified Bible) into a prayer of thanksgiving and speak it out loud every day and several times during the day, if necessary.
