Day 73 On Earth As It Is In Heaven.
Matthew 6:9-10 (New International Version, ©2011)
This, then, is how you should pray: ‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be Your name, Your kingdom come, Your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Are you afraid to pray BIG prayers? In the above passage Jesus is giving instructions on how to pray. These instructions are meant for us too!
Sometimes the will of God is not always spelled out for us, so we pray "Thy will be done." The words that follow that phrase in our Bible are "on earth as it is in heaven." These seven little words are very powerful. When you pray like Jesus is saying, you are praying God's will into your situation "on earth."
Let's go a step farther. The next five words are "as it is in heaven." That gives us even more of a definition of God's will. If it isn't in heaven, you don't have to have it on earth. And all the wonderful things that are in heaven are available and waiting for you on earth.
Today's Assignment:
1. Open your journal and write out Matthew 9:9-10. Underline on earth as it is in heaven.
2. Make a list of those things that are not in heaven, such as cancer, poverty, sickness, strife, etc.
3. Then make a list of those things that are in heaven, like peace, joy, fellowship, laughter, etc.
Prayer Focus:
Pray along these lines, thanking God that "heaven" has come into your earthly situtations.
