Day 22 God Wants Me To Get It
Hebrews 4: 7 The Message
God keeps renewing the promise and setting the date as today, just as he did in David's psalm, centuries later than the original invitation:
Today, please listen,
don't turn a deaf ear . . .
Today, please listen,
don't turn a deaf ear . . .
God’s Word is filled with many wonderful promises that are designed to bring us peace and joy. Sometimes we get so conditioned to our adverse circumstances that we cannot believe all the good that God has for us.
What is more real? Our circumstances or God’s promises?? That’s why I have instructed you to meet with God each day. When my circumstances became too much for me to handle, I began to meet with Him and peace flooded my heart. I want that for you!!
The “meetings” have been wonderful!! One of the first scriptures He opened my eyes to was I Corinthians 2: 9-16. (Bold is my emphasis.)
1 Corinthians 2:9-16 (New International Version)
9 However, as it is written:
“What no eye has seen,
what no ear has heard,
and what no human mind has conceived”—
the things God has prepared for those who love him—
what no ear has heard,
and what no human mind has conceived”—
the things God has prepared for those who love him—
10 these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit.
The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. 11 For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.
12 What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us.
13 This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words.
14 The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit.
15 The person with the Spirit makes judgments about all things, but such a person is not subject to merely human judgments,
16 for, “Who has known the mind of the Lord
so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.
so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.
Could I really have the mind of Christ concerning my situation? Could I know and understand what God wants for me?
In my early meetings with God, I would say, “If you didn’t mean it God, You shouldn’t have said it, because I believe it!!” I would say that out loud each time I ran across something that pertained to my circumstance.
When everything seems to be going wrong, we can grab onto the promise of God and hold on for dear life!! It takes courage but we can!!
I Corinthians 2:9 says that He has more for us than we can ever imagine. And Hebrews 4: 7 says that if we don’t believe it today (because it seems too good to be true), He will renew His promise to us tomorrow. He wants us to get it!!
Now, how do we get it? The scripture says that we cannot look to the world for it because they do not have any answers. When we look around us we see people with problems. We see discouragement and depression and loss and fear. If we have given our hearts to Christ (see Days 13 and 14), then we have been adopted into God’s family. A good father wants the best for his children. So it is with our Heavenly Father. And just like a good earthly father instructs his children, so our Heavenly Father instructs us.
That’s what these “meetings” are all about. We can spend time with the Father and ask Him questions about anything and everything.
And if we don’t get it, He’ll run it by us again. He wants us to have all that He has provided for us. He wants us to experience His peace and joy so that we can be a testimony of His goodness and His greatness to a world that has no peace and joy.
Let’s do it! Let’s meet with Him and just believe every promise He reveals to us through His Word.
Today’s Assignment:
1. Purpose in your heart to be like a child and just believe what “Daddy” says, even if you have to say to yourself, “You shouldn’t have said it if you didn’t mean it—because I believe it!!”
2. When you get to a promise that speaks to your situation, write it in your journal and beside it write, “I believe it!!”
Start with these:
I Cor. 2:9
Ephesians 3:20
Psalms 84:11
Romans 8:32
James 1:17
Prayer:
Father, I am so glad that You are not holding out on me but that You always want the best for me. Thank You for Your promises to me. Thank You for being “personal” with me and helping me to understand Your ways. I am so glad that I am in the family and that You are my Father. Amen.
Wow, Mom, you get things posted quick! Its only 8:00 AM...don't you know that you are suppose to sleep in on Saturdays? :) Just kidding! Love ya!
