Day 32 They Get The Farm
Psalms 25: 12-13 (New International Version)
Who then, are those who fear the Lord?
He will instruct them in the ways they should choose.
They will spend their days in prosperity,
and their descendants will inherit the land.
It sounds to me like God wants us to spend our days in prosperity. If you have children, you want the best for them--just as God does for us--and for them!
Spending our days in prosperity sounds like a very good thing. When we think of the word "prosperity," we immediately think of financial prosperity, but there is a broader definition.
The World English Dictionary defines "to prosper" this way:
To thrive and succeed in a healthy way.
Oops! Did that say "a healthy way??" That sounds to me like God wants us to be physically healthy also.
Okay, we know that God wants us prosperous, but how do we access His promise of prosperity? Let's take a look at the verse again and make note that there is a condition here. What is our part??
Who then, are those who fear the Lord? He (God) will instruct (us) in the ways (we) should choose.
"Fear" means to be in awe of God's goodness and greatness. It also means to thank Him and worship Him for that. Thankfully we do not have to be afraid of Him, because as we get to know Him, we learn that He loves us and wants the best for us. There is a love relationship going on. He loved us first and now we love Him back!
A love relationship is deep within us and because of that we don't turn it off and on. We have it and we keep it on all the time--Him for us and us for Him!!
I like to keep His promises in strategic locations so that when I have a minute I can stop and reflect His goodness.
The result of being in awe of God is that we live out our days in prosperity (mentally, physically, financially, socially, spiritually, and every other way!) Prosperous is prosperous. There are no limitations!!
Today's Assignment:
1. Look up these scriptures and make them personal.
- III John 2
- Matthew 6:33
- II Corinthians 1:20
2. Make a list of the ways a person can be successful.
3. Spend some time thanking God for His promise to you--to make
you (and your children) prosperous.
Prayer:
Father, You are such a good parent. You love me and daily You call meet with me because the Bible says You love me that much. You actually want to show me "great and mighty things that I do not know." (Jeremiah 33:3) Thank You, Lord, that all of Your promises to me are "yes" and "amen." (II Corinthians 1:20). I stand in awe of Your goodness toward me. Thank You so much!! Amen.
