Day 38 We Are Not In This Alone
John 14:16-17 (New International Version, ©2010)
And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— the Spirit of Truth…”
I hope this verse encourages you. I know it does me!!
Other words for “advocate” can be found in the following verse:
John 16:7 (Amplified Bible)
7However, I am telling you nothing but the truth when I say it is profitable (good, expedient, advantageous) for you that I go away. Because if I do not go away, the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Advocate, Intercessor, Strengthener, Standby) will not come to you [into close fellowship with you]; but if I go away, I will send Him to you [to be in close fellowship with you].
Jesus was telling his disciples that He was going to heaven to be with the Father (by the way of the cross) and that The Holy Spirit would come to earth and be our Comforter, our Counselor, our Helper, etc. God always makes provision for us. He would never go away and say, “Okay, you are on your own.” I can love and trust a Father like that, can’t you?
Why is it then that we don’t go to Him to get help? Why is it that we don’t turn to God until we have exhausted all the possibilities and are at the end of our rope?
I encourage you to begin each day with God. He is willing to give you direction, strength and the anointing for your day. He’s not surprised by anything. He already knows exactly what you are going to need.
If you need strength, He will give it to you. If you need peace, He will give it to you. If you need direction and answers to your questions, He will supply them. In other words, He is way ahead of us. All we have to do is ask. How simple is that?
Today’s Assignment:
1. Read the following scriptures and make them personal. Be sure to use the Amplified Bible where specified. If you don’t have one, you can go to http://www.biblegateway.com/ . It’s important that we get the full understanding of what God is saying to us. Remember, He speaks to us through His Word.
John 14: 26 Amplified Bible
John 15: 26
Proverbs 16: 3 Amplified Bible
Let me write this one out for you!! It’s so good!
Hebrews 13: 5b Amplified Bible
“…..for He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down ([relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!]”
Prayer:
Father, my Father, thank You that Your promise to me is that You never leave me on my own. I may feel alone but that is not the truth. You are always with me. Help me to be still and to sense Your presence with me today. Thank You, Father. Amen.
