Day 4 God Is My Father
2 Corinthians 2: 14 (The Message)
In the Messiah, in Christ, God leads us from place to place in one perpetual victory parade.
The NIV calls it a “triumphal procession.”
Think about the attitude you have as you sit at a parade. It’s one of excitement and anticipation!!
Have you ever gone to a parade with a child? A child sees what is right in front of them and it’s the adult that looks up ahead and says, “Look what’s coming!”
2,000 years ago when our Father sent His Son to the cross, He looked up. Now every day He says, “Look what’s coming!”
He wants us excited and He wants us to anticipate all the good things He has for us.
1 Corinthians 2:9-11 (New International Version)
9However, as it is written:
"No eye has seen,
no ear has heard,
no mind has conceived
what God has prepared for those who love him"[a]— 10but God has revealed it to us by his Spirit.
"No eye has seen,
no ear has heard,
no mind has conceived
what God has prepared for those who love him"[a]— 10but God has revealed it to us by his Spirit.
The Fatherhood of God far surpasses even the best earthly father we have ever known of. God is a picture of what true fatherhood really is. Thank God if you have (or had) a wonderful earthly father, but if you didn’t, thank God that He truly is your Father.
Okay, back to our parade….Maybe you woke up this morning and you didn’t feel very excited about victory.
Let me remind you of what your loving Father does for you.
1. He saves us from our sins. (I Tim. 1: 15, Matthew 1: 21)
2. He heals us of our weakness, diseases and sicknesses. (Isaiah 53: 4-5, Mark 6: 56)
3. He delivers us from demonic influence.
(Luke 8: 36)
4. He rescues us and preserves us. (Matthew 8: 24-25, Matthew 14: 29-31a)
5. He delivers us from the attacks of the devil.
(2 Timothy 4:18)
6. He favors you and protects you. (Psalms 5:12)
7. He makes a way for you. (Isaiah 45: 2-3)
Whew! That’s a bunch!! But then that’s our Father!!
Today’s assignment:
1. Look up each of the scriptures above and read the verses around them.
2. Highlight some key words in your Bible. It’s okay! God wants our Bibles to be a place where we meet with Him and when we look back through, you will recognize all your “meeting places” with Him.
3. Write the scriptures that are meaningful to you in your journal. Then when you need a faith boost sometime later on, you can glance back in your journal and see what your Father spoke to you on the previous days.
Prayer:
Father, reveal Yourself to me as Father. Help me to see what a true father you are. You are the epitome of a true parent—one that takes care of His children. Father, thank You for taking care of me.
Thank you for saving me, healing me, delivering me, protecting me, favoring me and making a way for me. I love You, Father. Amen
This blog is just what I needed!!
